Artist

Socmplxd is a Taiwanese American multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Born in Taiwan, he moved often between East and West before settling in the United States, and that outsider's eye shows in his subject matter: convenience stores, takeout containers, street signage, television sets and the other overlooked furniture of everyday life. He holds a BFA in Fine Arts, trained in both traditional and digital media, and worked as a set designer in the film industry, a background that drives the careful staging and lighting of his scenes. After watching the NFT space from the sidelines for close to a year, he minted his first 1 of 1 around May 2021 and built a following on SuperRare with meticulously rendered contemporary still lifes that pull from traditional painting, pop art and internet culture. His work has appeared in NFT NYC group shows, in Sotheby's curated auction The New Vanguard in 2023, in a solo show at Gallery Ninfa in Milan, and in an Art of the Month gallery residency. On The MLow Show he described building work from screens, ads and food, following intuition over concept.

Digital realism still lifes of everyday objects: food, packaging, screens, ads and street scenes, staged and lit like film sets. Named bodies of work include Parallax on SuperRare plus the series An Ordinary Life, Screen Time and Eggditions. He works mostly in 1 of 1s with occasional editions and animated pieces.
