Sara Baumann

Sara Baumann, who goes by Sparky, is an Iranian American artist and the founder of Women and Weapons. She worked as a full time occupational therapist in the hospital system while selling art on the side, then left that career in 2021 when her NFT work took off, telling CoinDesk that NFTs let her quit her job. Women and Weapons, her collection of 10,000 hand drawn portraits of diverse, powerful women, became a multi million dollar brand within months of launch, with lifetime sales volume north of 17 million dollars, and grew into a community, a merchandise line and a Season 2 collection. To push the brand beyond reliance on secondary royalties she built a fully rigged 3D character, discussed on the show as Nova, that can be performed through motion capture to create content and introduce Women and Weapons to new audiences. Beyond NFTs she paints fine art series including Heritage, which draws on her Iranian roots, Sensory, and Flora and Fauna, designs murals and patterns, and has worked with clients including Instagram, Mastercard, Coinbase, Coindesk, Forbes, Marshall and Sneaker Politics. She created Royal Rebels with Coinbase and speaks widely about art, web3 and women in the space.
