Richard Skeet is a managing partner at Hivemind, the London and New York asset manager founded by former Citi trading head Matt Zhang. He has co led the firm alongside its founder since 2022 and runs its liquid investment platform, which covers spot, perpetuals, futures, options, convertible debt and public equities. He came from traditional finance rather than crypto native circles, having been a partner and senior portfolio manager at East Lodge Capital, a global structured credit hedge fund, and he holds a first class MEng from the University of Warwick in computer science with electronic and electrical engineering, a background that lets him read code as well as risk. In March 2024 Hivemind launched the Digital Culture Fund with Skeet as one of its public faces, arguing that fine art has long worked as an alternative store of value but that digital art is hard to navigate without institutional discipline. The fund is built as a deliberately narrow collection around ten artists, grouped into five chapters of the medium's history, on the view that value here follows a power law rather than a linear distribution. He talks about blue chip status as something earned through cultural persistence rather than price, and the fund is curated to hold works that stay important once a cycle has passed.

Buys and curates digital art for the Hivemind Digital Culture Fund, a portfolio assembled after the first NFT market cycle around ten artists: a.c.k., Beeple, Dmitri Cherniak, Kim Asendorf, Larva Labs, Operator, Refik Anadol, Sam Spratt, Tyler Hobbs and XCOPY. The fund groups them into five chapters, AI Art, CryptoArt, Digital Canvas, Digital Identity and Generative Art, and goes deep on specific traits, such as White Mono Fidenzas and CryptoPunks with signature accessories. It buys 1 of 1 works as keystones that complete a thread rather than as standalone trophies, and pins every work to IPFS with a published SHA-256 hash so collectors can verify the bytes.
