Psych DF (Deadfellaz)

Psych is the co founder and lead artist of Deadfellaz, the 10,000 piece undead PFP collection that launched on Ethereum in August 2021. He built it with Betty, who ran the community and brand side while he drew the art. He had been making digital work for over a decade before crypto and came to NFTs through Depthcore, the digital art collective founded by Justin Maller. The Deadfellaz look is his: flat green skin, heavy black outlines, and more than 300 traits across body, head, mouth, eyes and nose, each graded fresh, damaged or rotten so the same jacket reads differently on different characters. The project attracted holders including Reese Witherspoon, Steve Aoki, Bill Murray and Alexis Ohanian, and in April 2022 it signed with United Talent Agency to push the IP into merchandise, events and gaming. In February 2022 the team added Deadfrenz, 13,000 undead animals released through a Lab Access Pass redemption system. The business now runs as DFZ Labs, which holds the Deadfellaz IP and is building Death Touch, a digital trading card game where every card is an animated original character from the same universe. Token owners hold non exclusive rights to the likeness of their own piece.

He draws the whole Deadfellaz universe, from the 10,000 piece PFP set to the Deadfrenz animals and now the animated cards for Death Touch. The style is flat vector with thick black outlines, sick green skin, and a wardrobe pulled from horror, punk, anime, comics and streetwear. The real craft is trait design: hundreds of interchangeable parts that have to combine into ten thousand characters that still read as individuals.
