MLow X Defiance Works
Never-published interview with collector Defiance Works (Eric Witschen), a 13-year Wall Street technologist on unsystematic collecting, rare Pepes, L2 caution, and why Blur was doomed.
Defiance Works is a pseudonymous crypto art collector who came to NFTs after thirteen years building technology on Wall Street. His X bio reads like a manifesto in fragments: girl dad, decentralize everything, tech founder, cypherpunk, ex quant. On The MLow Show he described collecting with no system at all, by design, and his wallets bear that out. The collection under defianceworks.eth and vault.defianceworks.eth ranges from RTFKT Studios' viral CYBERSNEAKER, the virtual sneaker that hit number one on the Elon Musk subreddit before RTFKT became a Nike acquisition, to SMOWL Pepe avatars, wrapped Rare Pepe card bundles from the Counterparty era, and meme one-offs like El Risitas. He is closely tied to The Doomed DAO, the collector organization dedicated to the appreciation, curation and promotion of XCOPY's work; the DAO's handle sits in his X bio and his vault holds its membership tokens. He curates a public gallery of his holdings on Gallery.so and has been active on crypto X since early 2019, collecting across eras of the market rather than around any one artist, movement or thesis.
Collects crypto art and internet artifacts with deliberately no system: XCOPY-adjacent work through The Doomed DAO, early RTFKT virtual sneakers, Rare Pepe Counterparty cards wrapped in Emblem Vaults, and meme editions. Splits holdings between a main wallet and vault.defianceworks.eth, with a curated public gallery on Gallery.so.
