MLow X BLAC Interview
AI artist BLAC lays out a complete philosophy of prompting as language calibration, breaking tools on purpose, and knowing why you create, not just how.
BLAC describes himself as artist, writer and cosmic anarchist, and calls his aesthetic existential surrealism. He works with AI image models and large language models, and the whole of his practice hangs off Syncretica, a philosophical framework he spent about two years building before it grew into a body of writing. Syncretica is set out in eleven testaments and moves through astral projection, transcendentalism, technological singularity, non linear time and cosmic consciousness, all pointed at one question: what is this reality. The art came out of the writing. Explorations of Syncretica is a run of 731 works made between August 2024 and February 2025, at first freestyle and without any plan for a collection, which he later organised into five chapters named Penumbra, Visium, Ouros, Prisms and Genesys, each answering to a chapter of the testaments. He says his work is not simply about ascension but about the struggle and sacrifice on the way to it, and that images can be a delivery system for complex ideas. He also builds around the human and machine relationship directly. Exocortex maps years of his own conversations with an AI system into an interactive four dimensional space where every message is a point and every pause is distance.
He makes AI generated stills in a dark, high contrast, ritual register: hooded figures, third eye light bursts, occult architecture, cave painting forms and nebular abstraction, usually with a heavy line texture. The output is organised into named series that map onto the chapters of his Syncretica writing, and released through SuperRare, Foundation and Sedition. On prompting he argues the point is language calibration, and that an artist should know why a prompt works, not only how to write one.
