MLow X Arthemort
A curator to curator conversation with Brian Beccafico, formerly of Sotheby's Paris, on single artist auctions, the economics of curation, and why you should never work for free.
Arthemort is the pseudonym of Brian Beccafico, a Paris based art advisor, curator and collector who works at the junction of the traditional art market and crypto art. He grew up in a family of art collectors with a collection of over 3,000 pieces, took a business degree at EDHEC, then a master's in Art Business at the Sotheby's Institute of Art, and certified as an art market analyst with ArtTactic. He began folding NFTs into the family collecting practice around 2020 and has bought work by Beeple, Pak, FEWOCiOUS and XCOPY. In August 2022 Sotheby's hired him as an NFT specialist in Paris, where he helped run the house's digital art sales until Sotheby's wound down Paris NFT auctions in mid 2023. He co-founded Artcrush Gallery in Brussels, which puts digital art on thousands of public billboards across Europe and beyond, and he is a founding member of the New French Touch collective of French NFT curators. Since April 2025 he has led collection management for The Sandbox DAO's roughly 1,100 piece NFT treasury under proposal SIP-26. On The MLow Show he appeared for a curator to curator conversation about the craft of curation.
Arthemort collects and curates digital art rather than making it. His personal collecting spans blue chip crypto artists such as Beeple, Pak, FEWOCiOUS and XCOPY alongside emerging painters, glitch artists and 3D artists on SuperRare. As a curator he has staged billboard exhibitions through Artcrush Gallery, the World Tour Season 1 show at NFT.NYC 2023, and meme themed sales on Tezos.
